Diabetes UK Risk Score

Diabetes UK’s single biggest mission is to make those people who are at risk of Type 2 diabetes (estimated at over 1 million people in the UK) fully aware of their risk. Our creative thinking set us apart, as we used the simple insight that people are less nervous about doing something that they know others like them have done. We featured 9 real people (recruited via a page on the DUK site) in our interactive Risk Score test, using photos and quotes – and some very clear and simple user experience design – to guide people through the 7 questions.

We settled on a nice simple typeface with a broken arrow running through the centre of the letters. This added a distinctive directional element to the logo (playing off the inspiration for the companies name – ‘Making a B’Line for the bar’) and also acted as a handy visual cue that broke up the ‘B’ from the ‘Line’.

The MegaMouth for ActionAid UK

Please enter ‘The MegaMouth’!!! Our caped superhero toured the streets of London in the week preceding the Put People First Rally, drumming up support from the Great British public.

The problem was that though The MegaMouth was from planet justice and possessed a Megaphone, when it came to shouting out slogans his mind went blank! So the people were asked to assist by entering their slogans through SMS, Twitter and the ActionAid website, where they could also watch The Megamouth’s antics via a live video stream!
